Daniel Clyne is our Good Neighbor Days weekend featured neighbor!!! His neighbor Emily nominated him and described him as: “One of the most social, outgoing, kind neighbors. New residents move in and he’s the first to greet them. If he sees a neighbor struggling with yard work or home improvements, he runs over to offer help. He even brings fresh banana bread over on cold winter days. He is always offering his tools or supplies to neighbors and tells them to keep them. He shovels neighbors’ driveways when they are gone without even being asked. He is always watching out for the littles in our neighborhood, making sure they are safe. Daniel will drop off and pick up neighbor kids needing rides to work or back. Honestly – he is the most selfless neighbor. I can’t say enough.” Get to know your neighbor, Daniel (in his own words): What brought me to Byron and what I like about it???? I work in Dodge Center and my wife works in Rochester --- so it’s kind of a halfway point, but mainly came for the school system. I like it here because everyone is so friendly. We got very lucky getting into a neighborhood with so many great people. Tell us about your life in Byron, what keeps you busy? My life in Byron is “anything outside”. I love just being outside and talking to anybody. My kids keep me busy; especially my 6 year old! That kid never stops – lol (laugh-out-loud for those that don’t text) 😊. How do you stay connected to your neighbors? Most of us neighbors stay connected through the neighborhood Facebook page or chatting with one another. Most of the time I talk too much and I’m hard to get rid of. Tell us why it’s important to you to support the community and neighbors? I think it’s important to support the community and neighbors because it’s just the right thing to do. If your neighbors are happy, then technically they should make their neighbors happy, and so on. I’ve heard from a few people now, asking about this last question and they told me I make them feel welcomed. That means a lot to me. I’d like to say a special thank you to Emily for nominating me. I’ve never received anything like this before and am honored. Daniel Byron Good Neighbor Days is July 14-17, 2022. Learn more about the event or highlight your own neighbor at bryongnd.com Get to know your neighbor, Andrew! Answers in his own words.... What brought you to the Byron community and what do you love about it? My wife and I moved to Byron from Rochester before our oldest started school. We loved the good schools and with both of us coming from smaller towns, we wanted that small town life for our kids. Tell us about your life in Byron, what keeps you busy? With 3 kids all involved in multiple sports and running 2 small businesses, our calendar is full year round. We love watching our kids grow in the Byron community being involved with sports. This is my first year coaching my son's Rookies baseball team. How do you stay connected to your neighbors? Our neighborhood is great for young families. All of our kids play outside together just like we did. If you want to know where they all are, just look for the house with the bikes and scooters. We get together with our neighbors and have dinner, or drinks on the deck, even game nights. It’s been a blessing. Tell us why it’s important to you to support the community and neighbors? We’re all part of this community and I feel it’s our responsibility to take care of it. With that, it means helping out whenever you can, supporting local fundraisers, donating your time. Being a small town, we’re all raising our families together, so being a good neighbor is crucial for our success as parents and community members. Her neighbor describes her as outgoing, kind, inspirational and uplifting “Maggie is a one-of-a-kind person with a heart of gold. She helps out anyone in need and will drop everything to be there for a neighbor. She thinks of her neighbors and does acts of kindness nearly every day. She is a full-time hospice nurse, mom of 2, wife, breast cancer survivor, but she still takes the time out of her day to greet her neighbors, staying active in the community, and trying to make life easier for those around her. Maggie has created several community groups on Facebook, including “Gifting it in Byron, MN” where community members can gift items for other community members. This site has grown immensely and increased community interaction.” Getting to know Maggie, in her own words: What brought you to the Byron community and what do you love about it? We moved to Byron about 9 years ago. We lived in Owatonna for 10 years before that. While in Owatonna I got my first nursing job with Mayo. I did not enjoy all the time I was spending on the road so we started looking to move closer and Byron's reputation for amazing schools was a huge draw! We are so glad we landed here! We love the smalltown feel, the schools, and the community. Tell us about your life in Byron, what keeps you busy? We stay busy with kids, sports, work, and trying to sneak in some travel too. How do you stay connected to your neighbors? I love now that its nice out again. We have such a great neighborhood and everyone is outside. Its fun to take a walk and get to talk to neighbors again! We live in a cul-de-sac so there is always a basketball or hockey game going on and there's been to known to be a bonfire or two too where everyone is always invited. Tell us why it’s important to you to support the community and neighbors? It’s important to me to support my neighbors and my community because it truly takes a village and a stronger community benefits everyone.
